Simple and meaningful story of The Elephant and the Rat 🐘🐭

Once upon a time, in a dense forest, there lived a huge elephant who was very proud of his strength. He often mocked smaller animals, especially a tiny rat who lived near a tree.

One day, the elephant laughed at the rat and said, “You are so small and weak! You are useless.”

The rat felt hurt but calmly replied, “Don’t underestimate me. One day, I may help you.” The elephant ignored him and walked away proudly.

A few days later, the elephant got trapped in a hunter’s net. He struggled a lot but couldn’t break free.

Hearing his cries, the little rat rushed to him. Without wasting time, the rat started gnawing the ropes of the net with his sharp teeth.

After some time, the net broke, and the elephant was free! The elephant felt ashamed and thanked the rat. He realized his mistake and said, “I was wrong. No one is small or useless.”

In a lush green forest, there lived a royal elephant who was kind, calm, and respected by all animals. Nearby, a mischievous monkey loved to play tricks on everyone.

One day, the monkey started teasing the elephant—jumping on his back, pulling his tail, and throwing fruits at him. The elephant stayed patient and ignored him.

But the monkey didn’t stop. While swinging on a tree, he slipped and fell into a muddy pit. He cried for help, but no one came forward.

Hearing his cries, the elephant rushed there. Despite being troubled earlier, he gently used his trunk to lift the monkey out.

The monkey felt ashamed.  “I am sorry for troubling you,” he said.

The elephant smiled, “Kindness is stronger than mischief.”

From that day on, the monkey changed his ways and became a better friend.

The Frog and the Mouse Short Story

A cheerful mouse and a clever frog lived near a pond and were good friends. One day, the mouse wanted to see the other side of the pond but couldn’t swim. The frog suggested tying their legs together with grass so it could pull the mouse along.

At first, everything went well as the frog swam and the mouse floated behind. But halfway across, the frog started diving underwater for fun, pulling the mouse down. The mouse panicked and struggled to breathe.
Their struggle caught the attention of a hawk, which swooped down and grabbed the mouse. Since they were tied together, the frog was lifted too. The hawk soon dropped them in a field.

Frightened and upset, the mouse scolded the frog for its careless behavior. The frog felt ashamed and apologized. From then on, it became more thoughtful, and their friendship grew stronger.

In a peaceful forest, there lived a wise and kind elephant. The elephant was admired by all the animals because of its gentle nature and calm wisdom. Near the forest, there was a muddy swamp where a mischievous pig lived. The pig loved rolling in the mud and playing tricks on others.

One sunny day, as the elephant was walking toward the river to drink water, the pig jumped out of the swamp, covered in mud, and started teasing the elephant.
“Hey, elephant! You’re always so clean and boring. Why don’t you try rolling in the mud? It’s fun!” the pig laughed.

The elephant smiled calmly and replied, “Thank you, pig, but I enjoy being clean and fresh.”  Not satisfied, the pig splashed mud all over the elephant. The animals watching gasped, expecting the elephant to get angry. But the elephant stayed calm and said, “It’s alright, pig. You can be yourself, and I’ll be myself.”

Instead of fighting back, the elephant walked to the river and washed itself until it was sparkling clean again. The pig watched, surprised. It had expected the elephant to get angry, but the elephant’s calm response left the pig curious.
“Why didn’t you fight back, elephant?” the pig asked as it waddled closer to the river.

The elephant replied with a kind smile, “Fighting back would only make me dirty, pig. It’s better to stay calm and true to who I am.”  The pig felt embarrassed by its behavior and realized the wisdom in the elephant’s words. From that day on, the pig decided to respect others’ choices and be kinder. Although it still loved rolling in the mud, it stopped splashing it on others.

The animals in the forest admired the elephant even more for its patience and wisdom. The pig and the elephant became unlikely friends, teaching each other valuable lessons about respect and understanding.

Moral of the story: Stay true to yourself and rise above negativity. Kindness and patience can change hearts.

He answered the call asap, changed his clothes and went directly to the surgery block.  He found the boy’s father passing in the hall waiting for the doctor. On seeing him, the father yelled, “Why did you take so much of time to come? Don’t you know that my son’s life is in danger? Don’t you have any sense of responsibility?”

The doctor smiled and said, “I am sorry, I wasn’t in the hospital and I came as fast as I could after receiving the call and now, I wish you’d calm down so that I can do my work”. “Calm down?! What if your son was in this room right now, would you calm down? If your own son dies while waiting for the doctor then what will you do?” said the father angrily.  The doctor smiled again and replied, “We will do our best by God’s grace and you should also pray for your son’s rapid cure.”.

“Giving advises when we’re not concerned is so easy” Murmured the father. The surgery took some hours after which the doctor went out happy, “Thank goodness! your son is saved!” And without waiting for the father’s reply he carried on his way running by saying, “If you have any questions, ask the nurse”.

Why is he so arrogant asked to a nurse? He couldn’t wait some minutes so that I ask something about my son. The nurse answered, tears coming down from her eyes, “His son died yesterday in a road accident, he was at the burial when we called him for your son’s surgery.  And now that he saved your son’s life, he left running to finish his son’s burial.”

Moral: Never judge anyone because you never know how their life is and what they’re going through.

The man took the Dog to his home village, which was quite far away. The King’s Elephant became very sad after this incident. He missed his friend a lot and started neglecting everything. He didn’t want to do anything without his dear friend, so stopped eating, drinking and even bathing.

Ultimately, the Elephant-keeper reported this to the King; however he didn’t tell anything about the Dog. The King had a wise minister, who was known for his understanding of animals. At once, the King asked the minister, “Go to the Elephant shed and find out the reason for the Elephant’s condition”. The intelligent minister went to the Elephant shed and found the Elephant very sad. He looked the Elephant all over and asked the Elephant-keeper, “There is nothing wrong with this Elephant’s body, then why does he look so sad? I think this Elephant is grief stricken, possibly due to the loss of a dear friend. Do you know if this Elephant shared a close friendship with anyone?”

The Elephant-keeper said, “There was a Dog who used to eat, sleep and play with the Elephant. He has been taken by a stranger three days ago”. The Minister asked, “Where is the Dog?” and he replied," I don’t know”. The minister went back to the King and said, “Your majesty, as per my opinion, the royal Elephant is not sick, but he is lonesome without his dear friend, the Dog”. The King said, “You’re right, friendship is one of the most wonderful things of life. Do you know where that Dog is?”

The Minister replied, “Elephant-keeper has informed that a stranger took him away and he didn’t know about his whereabouts”. The King asked, “How can we bring back my Elephant’s friend and make him happy again?” The Minister suggested, “Your Majesty, make a declaration, that whoever has the dog that used to live at the royal Elephant’s shed will be penalized”. The King did the same and the man who took the dog, instantly turned him loose when he heard the proclamation.

When got free, the Dog ran back as fast as he could to reach the Elephant’s shed. The Elephant was so delighted to see the Dog that he picked his friend with his trunk and made him sit on his head. The Dog waved his tail, while the Elephant’s eyes sparkled with happiness. The King was contented to see the happy Elephant once again. He also rewarded the minister for his wise judgment.
