One day, he got a magic goose as a gift from a well wisher. The goose laid one golden egg every day. The farmer sold the golden egg and bought things for his family. Soon they became very rich.
Suddenly, a very wicked idea came to the farmer’s mind. “If the magic goose lays one golden egg every day, how many golden eggs will be inside the goose? If I cut open the goose, I will become still rich in a single day.”
He killed the goose and cut her belly to open. But, he found no eggs inside. Because of his greed, he lost his goose and the golden egg.
Moral: Greed is the root cause of miseries.
