Two Friends and the Big Fat Bear Story

Once upon a time there lived two friends in a village. There was a big forest situated end of this village. Once two friends wanted to go to the other side of the forest. They had to cross a forest to reach the spot. They knew about the dangers and promised to face everything together.

They started crossing the forest. After some time, they saw a big fat bear coming towards them. One of the friends quickly climbed a nearby tree. But, the other one didn’t know how to climb.

Owing to some quick thinking, he lays down on the ground and holds his breath. The bear reaches him and sniffs him in the ear. Thinking the man is dead, the bear leaves the place.

The other friend now climbs down the tree and asks his friend what the bear said to him. The friend replied, “He cautioned me to be safe from fake friends.”

Moral: Learn to identify true friends from fake friends.

Crow and The Peacock story: Who is the Most Beautiful Bird?

Once there lived a crow in a banyan tree. It was very black as coal. The crow looked at a swan and thought how beautiful the swan was. She had all white feathers whereas the crow was black. The crow expressed his thoughts to the swan.

The swan replied that according to her the parrot was the most beautiful bird as it had two colors and the swan had just one.

Next, the crow approached the parrot, who simply said that peacock was the most beautiful than him as it was multicolored.

When the crow expressed his thoughts to the peacock, the peacock replied “My dear crow. You are the luckiest bird on this planet as you are never caged. Because of my beauty, I’m trapped in this cage and you are free.”

On hearing this, the crowd thought how foolish he had been and thanked God for making him the way he was.

Moral: Never compare yourself to others. Be happy in what you are and what you have.

The Hunter and The Pigeons

Once there lived a hunter with his family in a small village. One fine day, a hunter sets out to catch the birds. He lays a net and spreads rice all over it. Shortly, a flock of pigeons comes by and start eating the rice and get caught in the net.

They start to lose hope. Just then their leader asks them to fly together up in the sky. They do as told and carry the net with themselves. The hunter runs after them but is not able to catch them.

The pigeons fly towards their friend mouse’s hole. The mouse on seeing this cuts the net into pieces and frees the pigeon.

Moral: Unity is strength. Anything is achievable if we work unitedly.

Camel and the Jackal Story

Once upon a time there lived a camel and a jackal in the dense forest. They were good friends. They lived near by a river. One day the jackal came to know that there was a field of ripe melons across the river.

His mouth watered. But he could not cross the river. He went to camel and told him about the melons, the camel was also tempted to eat melons. He carried the jackal on his back and crossed the river.

Both of them reached the field. They started eating the melons. The jackal started howling loudly. The owner of the field came running and started beating the camel.

When the owner went away the camel asked the jackal why he had howled. The jackal replied, "It is my habit to howl after a heavy meal". Both of them returned to the river. The jackal jumped on the back of the camel.

When they were in the middle of the water, the camel began to roll in the water. The jackal said, "Why are you rolling in the water?" The camel replied, "It is my habit to roll in the water after a heavy meal". The jackal could hardly save himself.

Moral: Tit for tat.

King Cobra and Ants story

Once upon a time there lived a king cobra in a small hole near to a big tree. It always eat eggs, lizard, frogs and rabbits. All small animals began to fear the king cobra. This boosted up his pride. 

He began to think “Now, I am the most powerful creature in this forest. I am the king of the forest. All animals fear me. Let me move from this small hole to a bigger place”. 

He searched for a place to suit his size and status. Finally, he came across a big tree. He selected the tree for his house. He saw an ant hill near the tree.

He thought “Why should there be an ugly ant hill near my royal house?” He hissed aloud “I am king Cobra, the king of the forest. I order the ants to vacate immediately”. There was no reply. He got wild and struck at the ant hill.

What a surprise! In minute thousands of ants swarmed up the king cobra, biting him everywhere. The king cobra could not bear the pain. He ran away.

Moral: Pride goes before fall.

The Selfish Horse, Donkey and The Washer man

Once upon a time there lived a washer man in a small town. He pet a donkey and a horse. He was supposed to carry many bundles of cloth to the other town with load both of them. So he loaded the donkey heavily and the three of them began their journey forward.

It was a hot summer day and the donkey started to get extremely tired. He asked the horse to share some of the load but the horse refused to say that it was not his duty to carry the load.

Soon, the exhausted donkey could walk no further and collapse in the middle of the road. The washer man was determined to complete his journey. So, he put all the donkey’s baskets onto the horse and continued on his way.

The horse thought to himself, I wish I had helped the donkey before!

Moral: Never stay away from helping anyone.

The Cracked Water Pot

Once there lived a water bearer in a small village. The water bearer had two large pots which he hung on the ends of a pole. He used to carry the pole to his master’s house every day.

One of the two pots had a crack in it, which is why the bearer delivered only one and a half pot of water. The perfect pot was proud of himself and mocked the cracked pot.

One day, the cracked pot apologized to the bearer for being imperfect. But the master smiled and said that he had planted flowers on the cracked pot’s side of the way. Unknowingly, the cracked pot was watering them and because of this, the bearer was able to pick out beautiful flowers for his master’s home.

Now, the cracked pot didn’t feel ashamed of his imperfection anymore.

Moral: Never be ashamed of your imperfections. Many times, these imperfections are a blessing in disguise.

Once upon a time there was a fighting between the birds and animals. All birds fought with their might against the animals and the animals gave fierce battle. The bats were indecisive. They thought “We can join with the birds because we can fly. We can also join with the animals because we don’t lay eggs. Anyway, we will wait and join with the winners”.

At one stage the birds were having a winning hand. The bats thought, “This is the time, we’ll join with the birds”. But again the times changed. Now the animals began to be more powerful. The bats shifted support to animals.

After a long time the battle ended and the birds and animals came to compromise. But, both now neglected the bats and Bats began to live in holes. They came out only during night because that was the time when birds and animals would have returned home and the night animals and birds would not have left their homes.

Moral: The deceitful have no friends.

The Greedy Dog and his Reflection

Someone feed him a piece of bone. He picked it up and ran to a lonely corner. He sat there and began to chew the bone. He felt tired. So, he dropped the bone and slept there itself.

After sometime he woke up and take the bone with his mouth. He felt thirsty. So he ran up to nearby river. There was a bridge over the river. While it was walking in the corner it saw his own reflection on the water. The greedy dog thought that there was another dog with a bone. He wanted that too. He began to bark.

The bone in his mouth fell down into the river. The dog lost his bone and felt sorry. He left that place and went to the village with hungry.

Moral: Greed leads to grief.

Two Frogs and The Churned Milk

Once there lived two frogs in a small hole. It was a rainy day and two frogs were playing on the rain. Slowly, they hopped and hopped and came into a house. There was a churn of milk. Both the frogs fell into the churn.

Both the frogs tried for some time to come out from the churn. But in vain. One of the frogs lost hope and said, I can’t swim any more and he drowned to the bottom and died at last. The other one did not lost hope.

The second frog stayed motivated and continued to swim, his movements eventually churning the milk into butter. He then found himself on solid footing again and leaped out of the vat.

Moral: God helps those who help themselves.
