The Kind King and the Greedy Gatekeeper

Once there lived a renounce king in his kingdom. He was fond of fish. He had many ponds in his kingdom and all the ponds were full of fish. One day he arranged a feast for his birthday. He ordered to a fisherman to bring a big fish from the pond. The fisherman brought the big fish for the king. While he enters the kingdom the gatekeeper stopped him. The gatekeeper said that I can allow you if you give me half of your fees.

The fisherman agreed with the gatekeeper. The king was very happy to get the fish. He asked the price of that giant fish. The fisherman replied one hundred silver coins. The king was astonished. But he ordered his chief minister to give him hundred silver coins.

When the fisherman had got hundred silver coins, he said, Your Majesty! I have a partner with this dealing. So fifty coins will go to him. The minister asked who is that person. It is the kingdom’s gate keeper. The king understood that and he paid to the gatekeeper fifty coins. After that he was dismissed due to his greed.

Moral: Greed is a curse.
