The Fox and The Innocent Goat
Once upon a time there was a fox living in the forest. It was a hot summer day. The fox was very thirsty. Looking around for a place to quench his thirst, he came across a well that had very little water in it a few distance. They both were so thirsty that they got down into it and quenched their thirst. Having had their fill, the goat wondered how they would get out of the well.

The fox said, “Don’t worry. You leave that to me. All you have to do is stand firm, while I’ll climb up with your help. Once I get out, I’ll pull you up.”

The goat unaware of the fox’s shrewdness, agreed and soon the fox was out. Once out, it went its way, leaving the poor goat behind.

Just then, the fish says to him, “The grass looks so warm and nice. I wish I could lie on it”. Shortly after a sparrow passes by and says “Oh! What it must play all day in the sun. Wish I didn’t have to search for food and tire my wings.”

On hearing all this, the dog realizes how lucky he was and he started appreciating all the things he had.

Moral: It always seems that the grass is always greener on another side. But the joy lies in appreciating what we have.

Once there lived a young man in a small village. He collected a  jar of honey. He kept it on the table for eating. One day it was upset and the sticky sweetness flowed out on the table.

The sweet smell of the honey soon brought a large number of Flies buzzing around. They did not wait for an invitation. No, indeed; they settled right down. The Flies were quickly smeared from head to foot with honey. Their wings stuck together. They could not pull their feet out of the sticky mass and at last they died. They gave their lives for the sake of sweetness taste.

Moral: Don’t be greedy for a little passing pleasure, it may destroy you.

The Greedy Farmer and The Golden Goose Story

One day, he got a magic goose as a gift from a well wisher. The goose laid one golden egg every day. The farmer sold the golden egg and bought things for his family. Soon they became very rich.

Suddenly, a very wicked idea came to the farmer’s mind. “If the magic goose lays one golden egg every day, how many golden eggs will be inside the goose? If I cut open the goose, I will become still rich in a single day.”

He killed the goose and cut her belly to open. But, he found no eggs inside. Because of his greed, he lost his goose and the golden egg.

Moral: Greed is the root cause of miseries.

There was a grocery shop in a village. Plenty of mice lived in that grocery shop. Food was in plenty for them. They ate everything and spoiled all the bags that purchased by the owner. They also wasted the bread, biscuits and fruits of that shop.

The grocery owner got really worried. So, he thought "I should buy a cat and let it stay at the grocery shop. Only then I can save my things."He bought a nice, big fat cat and let him stay there. The cat had a nice time hunting the mice and killing them. The mice could not move freely now. They were afraid that anytime the cat would eat them up.The mice wanted to do something. 

They held a meeting and all of them said, "We must get rid of the fat cat. Can someone give a suggestion"? All the mice sat and thought of a solution. A small mouse just stood up and said, The cat moves oftly. If we can tie a bell around her neck, then things will be fine.We can know the movements of the cat".“Yes, that is answer,” stated all the mice. An old mouse slowly stood up and asked, "Who would tie the bell?" After some time there was no one to answer the question. They all left from that place because cat just pounce one of them.

MORAL : Empty solutions are of no worth.

The Dreaming Astronomer-Positive moral stories

Once upon a time there lived an astronomer who was very much involved in his observations. He often used to look up at the sky at night and start observing the stars, moon and other objects on the sky. One night he went to the top of his floor and started observation the moon and stars. He was walking towards the edge of his floor and he didn't noticed it. His leg slipped and he fell into a ditch. He started shouting. Nobody was there to help him at that time. 

At last a passerby, who heard his shouts, helped him out of the ditch and asked, “How did you fall into this ditch?” The astronomer replied, “I was so engrossed in my observations that I did not notice the edge and fell down." The passerby asked “How do you expect to discover things when you fail to take note of things under your nose?” The astronomer walked away with a sad face.

Moral: Realities are more important than dreams. 

Short moral stories : Narrow bridge and two goats

Two Foxes came face to face while crossing a narrow bridge across a river. Let me pass' said one of the Fox. 'Never...you get out of my way' said the other Fox. They quarreled and lost their balance They fell in to the river down below and dead. 

A few moments later two goats came face to face while crossing the same bridge.They were wise and patient. They made way for each other to cross the narrow bridge. Both the Goats reached the other end safely. 

Moral: Be patient and wise while dealing an issue.

The Selfish Bat and The Beast

Once upon a time there was a fighting between the birds and animals. All birds fought with their might against the animals and the animals gave fierce battle. The bats were indecisive. They thought “We can join with the birds because we can fly. We can also join with the animals because we don’t lay eggs. Anyway, we will wait and join with the winners”.

At one stage the birds were having a winning hand. The bats thought, “This is the time, we’ll join with the birds”. But lo! The times changed. The hands o hands of the animals began to be more powerful. The bats shifted support to animals.

After  a long time the battle ended and the birds and animals came to compromise. But, both now neglected the bats. Bats began to live in holes. They came out only during dusk because that was the time when birds and animals would have returned home and the night animals and birds would not have left their homes.

 Moral: A fair weather friend is often ill accepted.

Honesty is the best policy

Once upon a time there was a old man was walking towards the market for buying vegetables for his home. The market was situated 2 kilometre distance from his home. He had a bag with his hand. He was walking slowly due to his old age. Suddenly he saw wallet on the road. The wallet contained some money and a picture with an address on a paper. But he was not interested to hide the money. He just kept with his bag. On the way the owner of the wallet asked the old man, dear grandpa did you found a black wallet on this way? It has some money and my id card.

The old man said yes my dear son, I found the wallet and you just take this. I just got it from this road. I have not touched your money. Thank you. The owner of that wallet found his wallet without losing a single penny. He offered some money to the old man. But old man said my dear son you just keep that money with you and it will help for your study. The owner was happy at getting back the money and astonished at the man’s honesty. The old man said it was my duty for you my son.

Moral : Honesty is the best policy
